Redneck Sprinkler System…

So I am a redneck. Here is where Chloe rolls her eyes in judgement. I am not indicting hubby; his gene pool is much deeper than mine. He is merely my muscles, here.

We have a 26 foot span between our back spigot and our garden. For the past x years I have just pulled a hose from the spigot (which has a nifty timer that goes off for 5 minutes two times a day) to the garden. It has worked wonderfully. Bountiful harvests have ensued.

Then, last year, while we were on vacation, our lawn boy rolled it up to mow (good lawn boy) and I was not home to roll it back out to the garden. Sooooo…it turned on and off as planned, only it turned out to be watering the spigot (where it was rolled up), not the garden. We almost lost the garden. Blech.

So this year I exercised my redneck roots concocted a nifty plan to run electrical conduit underground and snake the hose through it. No need to ever roll it up (other than at the end of the season). Hubby happily obliged (I didn’t even have to beg). In the second picture you can see the other end of the tube, in front of the herb garden. Yay!

The whole thing cost $12. Well, that doesn’t include the hose; I had that, already. So the whole thing, sprinkler, hose, and pipe cost $30. Don’t underestimate your average Idahoan. Grin grin!
